Weerterbos - Hugterheide - orange - 10,5 km
The hiking area Weerterbos and Hughterheide is located in the north of the KempenBroek. It is a diverse area with old, moist deciduous woodlands, beautiful fens, and small heathlands. This orange route explores the central part of the Weerterbos.
Extensive description CloseThe Weerterbos has gained a lot of recognition in recent years due to the presence of red deer. In the autumn, it attracts many enthusiasts who want to catch a glimpse of the spectacular rutting season. Here you will find an impressive lookout tower from which you can spot the animals in the area.
The area, however, has much more to offer! The woodland has its charms in every season, and those listening for the sounds of the Yellowhammer, Crested Tit, or Nuthatch will never be bored. You will also hike along pingoruin and rabatten. Be sure to visit the border chapel where Catholics used to secretly attend mass.
More information about the hiking area can be found on the hiking map of the area.
