Weerterbos - Hugterheide - blue - 4,4 km
The hiking area Weerterbos and Hughterheide is located in the north of the KempenBroek. The blue route in the Hughterheide mainly passes through coniferous woodland with occasional deciduous trees.
Extensive description CloseIn Hugterheide you will mainly find dry woodlands with patches of heathland here and there. The Weerterbos, on the other hand, is a diverse area with old, moist deciduous forests and beautiful ponds. It has gained much fame in recent years due to the presence of red deer. In autumn, it attracts many enthusiasts who want to catch a glimpse of the spectacular rutting season. Here you will find an impressive viewing tower from which you can spot the animals in the area.
The area has much more to offer! The woodland has its charms in every season, and anyone searching for the sounds of the Yellowhammer, Crested Tit, or Treecreeper will not be bored for a second. Also visit the border chapel where Catholics used to secretly attend mass.
