Weerterbos - Hugterheide - green - 2,1 km
The hiking area Weerterbos and Hughterheide is located in the north of the KempenBroek. The green route in the Hughterheide runs mainly through coniferous woodland with the occasional deciduous tree.
Extensive description CloseThe coniferous forests were planted here to hold back the drifting sand. Along the edges of the paths, you can see plenty of purple moor-grass and remnants of heathland. The forest area lies on a sandy ridge that extends southwards towards the Weerter- and Budelerbergen. Due to the management by Brabants Landschap - which aims for a summer oak-birch forest - the bird population has become richer with species such as the goshawk, hobby, tawny owl, nuthatch, wood warbler, yellowhammer, crested tit, and coal tit.
