Extensive description CloseThe Commanderij Gruitrode was one of the twelve commanderijen of the German Order subordinate to the landcommanderij of Alden Biesen until 1801. The Commanderij consisted of a castle separated by moats and a vierkantshoeve.
Currently, the Commanderij Gruitrode is being gradually restored into a hotspot for culture and events. Additionally, the site will serve as the gateway Duinengordel to guide visitors in this northern part of the Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen.
