Vallei van de Bosbeek - purple - 10,8 km
The Bosbeek, also known as the Oeterbeek, originates on the Kempens Plateau and, after a considerable descent, reaches the Vlakte van Bocholt. This is a long, varied route where village and nature, woodland and marsh alternate.
Extensive description CloseYou cross the Zanderbeek and hike along the Bosbeek. Here you can discover traces of the beaver. This hike connects the village of Neeroeteren with the nature reserve den Tösch. In Wurfeld, the Bosbeek forms the natural boundary between two contrasting landscapes. In den Tösch, you will be surprised by a piece of wildness on a small scale in a marshy environment with broekbossen, ponds, rough grasslands, and shrubs. On the northern side of the winding Bosbeek lies the area Langeren. Here, fields and meadows mainly determine the view. You will find a treasure trove of landscape features such as hedgerows and wooded edges over 100 years old. Along this stream, there are still numerous watermills such as the Klaaskensmolen in Neeroeteren, the last working saw watermill in Flanders, and the Wurfeldermolen in Wurfeld.
