A short, brisk walk through the woods in the Dilserbos will introduce you to the Kempen Plateau. So be prepared for some steep slopes. You are now in the northern part of the Terhills area (above the N75).

Extensive description Close

This short but challenging forest walk in the Dilserbos introduces you to the Kempen Plateau. The slopes you encounter along the way are not real mountains, although place names sometimes suggest otherwise. For example, you will walk past the Platte Lindeberg. What you see here are remnants of the Kempen Plateau, formed during the ice ages when the Meuse carried large quantities of sand and stones from the Ardennes. This debris formed a plateau that rises up to 50 metres above the surrounding area. At the edge of the plateau, you can see how the landscape suddenly transitions into the lower Meuse Valley, a steep edge that stretches for more than 20 km and gives this walk a striking relief.
