Station As - blue - 5,5 km

For years, Station As played a central role in coal mining in this region, as many miners and coal wagons departed from here to the nearby mines in Eisden, Waterschei, and Winterslag. Now, you can find the narrowest visitor reception of the National Park in a restored train.

Until 2017, gravel was extracted north and south of the Kolenspoor. Afterwards, the area was landscape-wise redesigned by the Restructuring Committee (now Gravel Committee) before being returned to nature. The area is named after the nearby erratic boulder that marks the border between the former municipalities of Lanklaar, Niel-bij-As, and Mechelen-aan-de-Maas.
