Munsterbos - green - 4,0 km
This hiking route starts in the village center of Munsterbilzen with an approach route of 1.5 km. The green route also takes you past a beautiful pond landscape.
Extensive description CloseThe approach route immediately immerses you in Bilzen's heritage. You pass the former abbey and medical center St. Joseph, the abbess's house, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, and Edelhof castle.
The ponds you pass are a favorite habitat for marsh birds, such as the bluethroat and water rail. The bittern comes here in winter to search for food. The wood lark, tree pipit, common redstart, and viviparous lizard find the ideal living environment in the heathland relics. Honey buzzard, goshawk, common buzzard, and hobby are breeding birds.
