The hiking area De Kempen is a paradise for lovers of open landscapes. You hike along several streams and also pass the Zuid-Willemsvaart. Along the way, you also see some border posts that were placed in 1843 to mark the boundary.
Extensive description CloseThe routes take you past fields, meadows, and active farms: both large-scale and charmingly small-scale, occasionally still bordered by remarkable wooded edges. Some meadows are an invitation for rare meadow birds such as curlew and black-tailed godwit. In various places, you can still see remnants of the former marsh in the form of wet oak, birch, and alder floodplain woodlands. The Zuid-Willemsvaart is a striking eye-catcher in the landscape that borders the area along the northern side.
