The hiking area De Kempen is a paradise for lovers of open landscapes. You hike along several streams and also pass the Zuid-Willemsvaart. Along the way, you also see several border posts that were placed in 1843 to mark the border.
Extensive description CloseThe routes lead you along fields, meadows, and active farms: both large-scale and charmingly small-scale, occasionally still bordered by remarkable wooded edges. Some meadows are an invitation for rare meadow birds such as curlew and godwit. In several places, you can still see the remnants of the former marsh in the form of wet oak, birch, and alder wet woodland groves. The Zuid-Willemsvaart is a striking landmark in the landscape that borders the area along the northern side.
