Extensive description CloseFor a long time, the Herkenrodebossen were one of the best-kept secrets of Hasselt. This area used to be owned by the abbey of Herkenrode, hence the name. Now hikers can enjoy this patchwork of old and young woodland, fields, and meadows. Landscape features such as hedges, wooded edges, pollarded trees, and ponds add extra variety. The Agency for Nature and Forest manages the area with adapted care. In spring, the spring flowers shoot up from the ground. In autumn, the lush summer greenery turns into warm autumn colors. Children and young people can enjoy themselves in the large nature play area.
