Zig and Goort - blue - 3,4 km

During the 20th century, the humid meadows of the Goort were largely planted with poplars. In 2003 and 2004, significant work was carried out to make this area more attractive for visitors as well as for plants and animals. The poplars are being replaced by oaks, birches, and alders. Paths and bridges improve accessibility. Thanks to boardwalks, you can enter nature without wet feet.
Other routes in this hiking area lead you along the Zig with 17 ha of ponds with reed edges and marsh zones. The Zig was once part of an extensive marsh area along the Belgian-Dutch border. From the bird hide at the edge of the area, you have a chance to spot one of the residents such as the water rail or bluethroat. But the Zig is also a true paradise for dragonflies like the emerald damselfly and the banded demoiselle.
