The hiking area is a place of contrasts with on one side the vast fields at the foot of the Kempens Plateau and on the other side the small-scale landscape of De Brand in Voorshoven. Hike along the charming villages of Opitter and Tongerlo or explore the Zuid-Willemsvaart. Let yourself be surprised by the many watermills or the beer brewing process in the brewery in Opitter. With some luck, you might spot the kingfisher or the yellowhammer, and in spring, De Brand can make you feel like you’re in a tropical rainforest as the mysterious tree frogs try to outdo each other with their calls.
