Vallei van de Bosbeek - green - 6,6 km
The Bosbeek, also known as the Oeterbeek, originates on the Kempens Plateau and reaches the Vlakte van Bocholt after a considerable descent. This hike takes you along the Zuid-Willemsvaart with a view of the little island and through Neeroeteren.
Extensive description CloseYou hike along a section of the Bosbeek where you can spot signs of the beaver. This route connects the center of Neeroeteren with the nature reserve den Tösch. In Wurfeld, the Bosbeek forms the natural boundary between two contrasting landscapes. In den Tösch, you are surprised by a small-scale wilderness in a marshy environment with broekbos woodlands, ponds, rough grasslands, and shrubs. To the north of the winding Bosbeek lies the area Langeren. Here, fields and meadows mainly shape the view. You will find a wealth of landscape features such as hedgerows and wooded edges more than 100 years old. Along this stream, many watermills are still present, such as the Klaaskensmolen in Neeroeteren, the last working saw watermill in Flanders, and the Wurfeldermolen in Wurfeld.
