Thorpark is an area of 10 km² behind the former mine of Waterschei. The area has so many qualities that it will connect with the Nationaal Park. Here you will find everything the Hoge Kempen has to offer: mining spoil heaps amidst heathland and pine woodlands, a beautiful stream valley, juniper berries, and continental dunes. Some striking buildings spice up the landscape: the children's colony of As and the coal mine of Waterschei (Thor Central). You can already do extensive hiking there, but a gateway in the familiar style of the other gateways is (still) not present.
