Pijnven - red - 10,6 km
Hike vigorously through endless woodlands? Then the red route through the Pijnven is just your thing. You hike through pine woodlands all the way to the Vlindervallei, where you can take a break or have a picnic among the flowers and butterflies.
Extensive description CloseThose seeking the true woodland experience will find it in the vast Pijnven. The hiking routes guide you through a setting of coniferous forests and avenues lined with beautiful American oaks. In autumn, these exotics create a true explosion of color. Along the way, you will encounter old heathland relics here and there.
The hikes pass by the Treehouse, an architectural treehouse that can be rented by companies and organizations wishing to hold meetings about sustainability in a special location. In the vicinity of the Treehouse, you can try ‘disc golf’.
For children, this woodland is the ultimate natural playground. They are free to romp and build camps in the play area and on the play meadows. Some play elements in the open spaces provide extra climbing fun.
In Pijnven, you can choose from several routes:
- The blue woodland dwellers route (2.8 km) allows the little ones to compare their own qualities with those of the animals in the woodland.
- The orange hiking route (6.8 km) passes the monumental bike bridge of ‘Fietsen door de Bomen’. You can make this route even more interesting with the interactive route description from the forest ranger.
- The red route is the longest (10.6 km) and leads you past, among others, the Butterfly Valley (at its most beautiful in summer) and the artwork ‘De Boom in’ by Will Beckers. Those preferring to create their own route can use the nodes of the hiking network Bosland.
