Extensive description Close

In the Hoge Kempen National Park, 10 walking routes have been awarded the European quality label Leading Quality Trail – Best of Europe, Day Walk, presented by the European Hiking Federation. These Top Trails meet strict quality requirements in terms of landscape variety, natural and cultural values, signage and infrastructure.

One of these walks takes you to one of the quietest and most beautiful spots in the National Park. You can expect fragrant myrtle bushes, beautiful views, peace and space.

Groundwater flowing from the Kempen Plateau collects in ditches and ditches, eventually flowing into the Meuse as the Zijpbeek (pronounced Ziepbeek) barely 8 km further on. Before it gets that far, the water is dammed up by transverse dikes, creating several ponds, including the Aspermansvijver. Be sure to enjoy a relaxing break here.

Another unmissable resting place is the high bench that offers a magnificent view over the Ziepbeek valley.
