Dauteweyers - Dorpsbemden - orange - 10,2 km

This hiking area in the southernmost part of the Wijers guides you through a great variety of landscapes around Diepenbeek. The entire area is extremely rich in water. There are several ponds with marshy zones. Around these ponds are alder carr forests and humid meadows. Together, this forms the ideal habitat for the rare tree frog that feels at home here.
Throughout the area, the Demer, the Kaatsbeek, the Stiemerbeek, and the Laak meander. Be sure to also enjoy Dorpsbemden, with its flowery grasslands.

The Demerstrand in Diepenbeek is not only for all athletes: you can tennis, play football, jog, skate, and much more; there is also a playground entirely focused on water! Around the playground, you can relax and picnic on the grass or at one of the picnic tables. In the birth forest just across the Demer, children can romp in the play forest. And last but not least: there is a cozy cafeteria at the start of the hikes!
