This hike introduces you to the Bosbeekvallei from the village of Opoeteren, the Aerdshouw Domain Woodland, and the cultural historical landscape of the Houw.

Extensive description Close

The Bosbeek springs in As, flows through the villages of Opoeteren and Neeroeteren, before flowing into the Maas 22 km later near Aldeneik (Maaseik). Over that short distance, it has a drop of 50 meters, which made it suitable for the construction of watermills: a total of 16 were built.
Just behind the church of Opoeteren, you can still find the Dorpermolen, a watermill from 1530, the oldest building in Opoeteren.
