Thorpark - red - 12,7 km

Thorpark is an area of 10 km² behind the former Waterschei mine. The area has so many qualities that it will connect to the National Park. Here you find everything the Hoge Kempen has to offer: spoil heaps amidst heathland and pine woodlands, a beautiful stream valley, junipers, and continental dunes. Some striking buildings enhance the landscape: the children's colony of As and the Waterschei coal mine (Thor Central). You can already do extensive hiking here, but a gateway in the familiar style of the other gateways is (not yet) available.
