During this varied hike, you will spend some time along the Abeek. From the 3 bird hides, you get a view of the beautiful ponds and the unique birds that breed here. You might even spot a kingfisher, bittern, or oriole. The area is also teeming with dragonflies. If you prefer open landscapes, St.-Maartensheide and Hemelrijk are the places for you. Meadows, fields, woodlands, wooded edges, rows of trees, and ponds create a small-scale landscape that is particularly suitable for the woodchat shrike, yellowhammer, and meadow birds such as the curlew and the godwit. Be sure to stop at Luysmolen for a bite or a nice cup of coffee.
