Resterheide, located on the border of Hechtel-Eksel and Peer, is a versatile area where you can explore the source area of the Zwarte Beek and the Bollissenbeek. Despite what the name suggests, Resterheide mainly consists of agricultural fields and coniferous forests.
The hiking trails meander past serene ponds, extensive coniferous and deciduous woodlands, nature fields, and typical agricultural landscapes.
For an accessible and adventurous experience, there is the Ladybug Trail, specially developed for strollers and wheelchair users, and adapted for the blind and visually impaired.
- Via the Heron Trail, you learn more about the forest in a playful way, and along the way you can overcome obstacles on the Squirrel Zigzag.
Don’t forget to bring your binoculars to spot water birds from the lookout tower by the ponds. More information can be found at www.nationaalparkbosland.be and www.natuurpunthechtel-eksel.be
