Halfway through the hike, you will discover the fascinating burial mounds of De Roosen. This area once held more than 150 graves, of which only three have been preserved over time. These have been carefully reconstructed and offer a unique glimpse into the distant past.

What makes this hike special?

  • The landscape: the route takes you along a mosaic of birch and oak woodlands, interspersed with stately pine forests. The Kolisloop, which crosses the forest, adds an extra touch of charm to the area.
  • The history: at the burial mounds of De Roosen, you literally hike over centuries-old history. A place where nature and culture converge.
  • Unique starting point: start your adventure at the 25-meter high fire lookout tower in Torenstraat. During dry periods, forest rangers keep a close watch from here to detect forest fires early.
