Extensive description Close

A visit to the 143-hectare estate Hobos takes you centuries back in time. The name means 'high situated woodland' and it is located on one of the highest points in Overpelt. This area was once the home of bailiff Clerckx, the famous judge who sent dozens of Bokkenrijders to the scaffold.

Today it is a beautiful, pristine piece of nature, free of pesticides, featuring a historic manor house and a lease farmstead. Here you will find old landscape features and both wet and dry natural areas that shelter rare species such as the nightjar and the smooth snake.

De Grote Hof is another special piece of heritage in Overpelt. This hike offers an idyllic combination of culture and nature. Start your hike at De Grote Hof with its impressive driveway and hike through the vast woodlands to the mysterious estate Het Hobos. Around Kamphuis de Winner lies a gigantic play area where children can romp about to their heart’s content. A perfect mix of history, nature, and adventure awaits you!
