Gallo-Roman burial mounds - red arrow - 4,2 km
On this hike, which runs entirely over paved roads, you visit several burial mounds from Roman times: De Twee Tommen and De Drie Tommen.
Extensive description CloseIt may be hard to imagine, but about eighteen centuries ago the Haspengouw landscape was dotted with whitewashed villas and monumental tumuli (villa is the Latin term for an agricultural estate, and tumulus means hill or burial mound). In Gingelom, six Gallo-Roman tumuli are located in three different places: the Avernassentom, the Twee Tommen, and the Drie Tommen. These sites are set up in an experiential way and give you an impression of the Gallo-Roman period in Haspengouw.
