Castle of Heers - blue arrow - 2,5 km
This short varied hike leads you clockwise from the town square via the historic cemetery to the impressive castle park. From there, you return via the majestic castle avenue to the starting point.
Extensive description CloseThe immediate surroundings of the castle consist of a castle park with lawns, park trees, and, adjoining it, an extensive castle woodland. The English-style landscape park dates from the 19th century. Inspired by Romanticism, the nobility incorporated water features, grasslands, and trees into the design. They also experimented with creating artificial hills, pavilions, and grottoes. In the castle park of Heers, you can still find a ruin of such a grotto. But the main attractions are the impressive beeches and plane trees. The castle itself is in poor condition. Today, many partners are working on a new future for this impressive place full of history.
