This hiking route introduces you to the nature reserve Bergerven and the steep edge of the Kempisch Plateau. Part of the hike runs along the canal 'De Zuid-Willemsvaart'. Along the way, you can enjoy some views.

Extensive description Close

From the steep edge, you look out over the ponds that have remained after the gravel extraction in this area. To increase the diversity in the landscape and thus the number of plant and animal species living there, Limburgs Landschap vzw is assisted by Galloway cattle and Konik horses. They are self-sufficient breeds that can live in the area all year round without much help. They look dangerous, but if you follow a few rules, there is nothing to fear: dogs must always be on a leash everywhere, do not provoke the animals, and keep a safe distance. Dogs are not allowed on the rugged hiking trail.
