Hidden in the rolling landscape of the Kelsbeekvallei lies the largest woodland in Haspengouw. Hike in the shade of imposing beech and oak trees, which compete for dominance over the woodland. Here you find sand, loam, and clay in the soil. The result is a colorful palette of plants: from exuberant spring flowers to rare mosses and a varied mix of mushrooms. No wonder so many animals, from birds to rare (bat) mice, to amphibians and even reptiles like the slowworm, find their food here.
