The IJzeren Man area is located southwest of Weert and covers approximately 100 hectares. The area, with its heathland patches, drifting sand, marsh, ponds, deciduous and coniferous woodland, meadows, wooded edges, and several small streams, is a showcase of the various landscapes in the KempenBroek. The Laurabossen hiking area lies between the Kruispeel nature reserve and the Belgian border, forming a beautiful contrast with the wet marshy parts of the KempenBroek. Here you will find authentic sand dunes with characterful trees and remnants of formerly extensive heathland plains.
