The church villages Stramproy and Tungelroy were added to the territory of Weert in 1998. Stramproy was once part of the principality of Thorn and was governed by 2 mayors and 5 rothmeesters. Thanks to its varied landscape with many natural and cultural-historical elements, it is also called the pearl of Limburg. You can still find two Stramproyer defensive forts, several mills, old farmsteads, an old rectory, an old tram line, chapels, and wayside crosses. Tungelroy is originally an agricultural village and a significant part of the territory is still occupied by agriculture. You can find the Saint Barbara Church, which is listed as a national monument, the Saint Anna mill, and chapels. To the south of Tungelroy flows the Tungelroysebeek. To the west of the village you will find the Tungelerwallen, a former heathland and drift sand area. On the higher, dry sandy ridges, you mainly find woodland alternated with fields and meadows.
