The Mechelse Heide is the ultimate hiking area in the Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen. While the hikes north of Joseph Smeetslaan are true woodland hikes, the hikes south of this road take the hiker to the highest points of the Hoge Kempen with views stretching far into Germany. Occasionally, there is a steep climb. As a reward, you will see the most beautiful heathland areas of the Hoge Kempen (Mechelse Heide and Kikbeekbron). Nine hikes, with distances ranging from 3 km to 12.5 km, guide you along the way. Or connect the hikes to each other via the hiking switches. Tip: Also discover the Top Trail Mechelse Heide, which is the purple route of 12.6 km.
