Huis van Hout - Sustainable design house with huge garden & hottub

logies

Enjoy the peace and nature at "Huis van Hout" (house of wood), a cozy and sustainable design house in the fruit region. It is built with natural and healthy materials, and produces its own water & electricity.

Iconic design furniture (new or with a story) makes your stay luxurious and comfortable, for work meetings or for fun. Our large garden is available, as well as the pesticide-free tall-stemmed fruit trees, herbs, and more. The chickens welcome you. You have a private terrace with a Weltevree hot tub (which you can reserve separately for a fee). Heat the bath and meditate with a view of the Limburg fields!

If you love design, you will feel at home here immediately. I am an interior journalist and realize that timeless designs are more sustainable than just furniture. We focus on Belgian design, including the beautiful colorful poufs by Casalis.

Nature is never far away: the plants filter the rainwater into clear and pure water for the shower, and the sun provides our electricity. The house always feels cozy and is well ventilated thanks to natural insulation materials and a high-tech ventilation system D. The plantations around the house provide a fantastic panorama during your hot tub session. You can heat it yourself (for the wood) for a fee. The water is then recycled and filtered by the plants. The wood comes from the surrounding apple plantations.

You stay in the heart of Haspengouw, surrounded by fruit tree plantations. You are always welcome to hike through it with respect for the farmers (at the back, you jump over the stream), ideal to wake up. Huis van Hout lies right between two nature reserves: Schulensmeer and Vinne. Also, the trendy Genk with, among others, Labiomista (an open-air art gallery and animal park) is reachable within 30 minutes by car. Closer by in Hasselt, you will find the beautiful hiking area De Wijers (‘the ponds’). Even closer, you can enjoy excellent hiking and cycling around the Kleine Gete (Geetbets).
