The burial mound: protection in turbulent times
Millen
Haspengouw
This hill was raised in ancient times by the local population as protection against passing armies. It is therefore not a Roman burial mound but a well-preserved medieval motte. At the time, there was presumably a wooden tower building as a lookout on the plateau. The old, 7-meter-wide ditch surrounding the motte is still visible.
