Boundary stone - Herkenrode Bos
Herkenrodebossen
Haspengouw
In the Herkenrodebossen there is a network of ditches that together form an old forest boundary around the woodland property of the former abbey of Herkenrode, a 12th-century Cistercian nunnery in nearby Kuringen. Some still existing boundary markers, which certainly date from 1730 (or earlier), accompany the woodland boundary. The letters AH (Abbey Herkenrode) are engraved on each boundary marker.
