Our nature partners

Every day, dozens of partners are committed to preserving the green character of our typical Limburg landscapes. Each emphasizes their own aspects, but all share the same goal: a green and livable Limburg for everyone.

Logo Agentschap Natuur en Bos

Agency for Nature & Forest

The Agency for Nature & Forest is the Flemish government institution dedicated to the management and protection of our natural areas and woodlands. As part of the Department of Environment, the agency manages approximately 100,000 hectares of nature reserves across Flanders. From extensive nature reserves to the smallest woods, each area receives the necessary care to keep ecosystems healthy.

The agency ensures protection, education, and awareness for the public about the importance of nature. Through forest management, hiking trails, and nature educational activities, they make nature accessible to everyone. Collaboration with municipalities, nature organizations, and volunteers is central to their approach. With forest rangers, ecologists, and nature guides, the agency fights daily for a greener future. This way, the Agency for Nature & Forest contributes to a Flanders where people and nature live in harmony.

Logo Limburgs Landschap vzw

Limburgs Landschap vzw

Limburgs Landschap vzw is a nature association from Limburg. By purchasing and managing areas, they ensure more nature and biodiversity. They not only protect what remains, but also restore what was lost and even develop new nature. Meanwhile, they manage more than 40 nature areas, together covering about 2,800 ha of nature in Limburg. They like to open these to hikers and cyclists so that everyone can enjoy them to the fullest. Of course, Limburgs Landschap takes the carrying capacity of nature into account, so not all spots are equally accessible. This way, we can continue to enjoy that beauty in the future.

As a recognized terrain-managing nature association, Limburgs Landschap vzw receives annual subsidies for the purchase and management of more nature in Limburg. Unfortunately, these subsidies do not cover all costs.

Would you like to become a member, support them financially, or volunteer? You can do so by making a contribution to the account number IBAN – BE 28 4564 0220 0120 BIC – KREDBEBB. The membership fee is 20 euros per year. Or become a volunteer in one of the nature areas of Limburgs Landschap vzw.
