Long-Distance Hiking Trails in Limburg
From Day Hikers and Train Hikers to Regional GR’s
On our hikes, you will regularly encounter the white-red markings of the Grote Routepaden.
‘Grote Routepaden’ unites hikers and cyclists with a passion for slow travel along long-distance trails and was founded in Flanders in 1977, inspired by the French and Walloon GR (Grande Randonnée).
A GR trail is a long-distance route from point A to point B, often running through various regions and marked with white-red signs. In Flanders, you will find not only these traditional GR routes but also several Streek-GRs. These are region-specific routes, marked with yellow-red, that allow you to discover the most beautiful regions.
In Limburg, aside from the Streek-GR Haspengouw and the recently launched Streek-GR Limburgse Mijnen, you can also explore numerous Treinstappers (day hikes from station to station over GR trails) and Dagstappers (circular day trips along GR trails).
