National Park Trail - Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen - 23,2 km

Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen

The official trail starts at toegangspoort Kattevennen, where the lightning stairway forms the ideal vantage point to get a first glimpse of where you will be hiking in the days ahead.

Extensive description Close

You primarily hike through vast woodlands on the southernmost foothills of the Kempens Plateau. You cross or hike alongside several crystal-clear streams, and sometimes you already sense a faint touch of Haspengouw. This stage connects three “Gateways to the National Park” with each other: Kattevennen, Lieteberg (1 km from the trail), and Pietersheim, once a lordship of the Princes of Mérode. A significant part of this stage coincides with the legendary GR 5.
