Kessenich and the Drie Eigen - blue - 8,1 km
With the blue hiking loop in the hiking area Kessenich and the Drie Eigen, you explore the nature reserve Vijverbroek and the distinctive Maasdorpjes Neeritter and Ittervoort. A varied, cross-border hiking route with a focus on nature and culture.
Extensive description CloseYou hike past Borgitter Castle in Neeritter and get to know the nearby Ittervoort. The name says it all, the Itterbeek shapes a large part of this hiking area. The blue loop takes you for a considerable stretch along its course. Along the way, you encounter no fewer than 3 mills. That same Itterbeek also leads you through Vijverbroek, a beautiful nature reserve on the Belgian-Dutch border in Kinrooi. It is also a marshy area, with alder carr woodland, willow thickets, and floating mats. You will also find poplar forests and humid grasslands. The beaver feels at home here, and you can tell. So be sure to wear rain boots if you choose this route.
This hike goes through a marshy area. As a result, some hiking trails may be muddy and wet. Boots are recommended during this hike!
